International Women’s Day

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀’ 𝗗𝗮𝘆! Fishers would like to acknowledge Lady Elizabeth Wilbraham who is traditionally recognised as the first known woman architect. Born in 1632, she was the first woman recorded to have produced architectural drawings.

Known to be a strong woman who knew what she wanted and how to get it, she had a passion for architecture and is noted to have been involved in the design of up to 400 buildings including Weston Park, in Staffordshire and Wotton House in Bucks. A true forerunner to be celebrated!
